Due to the recently announced vulnerability in OpenSSL, we have reset all passwords for BTO users. You will receive an email with new credentials. If you did not receive your new password, you may also request a new password from this link

Customers using the Blue Coat Cloud Service and ThreatPulse portal were not exposed to the OpenSSL vulnerability. Blue Coat products using a vulnerable version of OpenSSL with the heartbeat option enabled are impacted when they are acting as a server in the TLS session. The table below lists our impacted products, versions and status for the patches. All patches that have been released are available for download on BTO.

Have you accessed the new and improved Blue Coat Customer Forums? The Customer Forums are an additional support channel where you can collaborate on topics relevant to you at your own convenience. You can learn from and share your valuable knowledge and experience with other Blue Coat customers. A Blue Coat Moderator team has been formed and are standing by ready to offer guidance, answer questions, and help get you on the right track.

To access the new portal, please visit https://forums.bluecoat.com and select the Register option. Posting privileges will be provided to those customers who have a valid BlueTouch Online (BTO) account so please be sure to use the email address associated with your BTO account when registering as this will be used to validate your account. You may also access the Customer Forums link on BTO. If you do not have a BTO account (username & password) then you can request an account on BTO by selecting Need a Login? And completing the Request Login Wizard. Please note that BTO accounts are available to customers who have a valid support contract only. Users who do not have a valid Blue Coat support contract will have read only access to the forums but will not have the ability to post or reply to topics.

An enhancement to the Blue Coat URL Categories is scheduled to become effective on November 12, 2013. This notification contains information to assist customers in assessing the potential effect of these enhancements and to plan any necessary adjustments to related Blue Coat solutions. Four categories will be added to provide for improvements in acceptable use and security policies, 13 categories will be renamed to provide clarity of purpose and two categories will be deleted.

A staging and testing period starts effective October 15th 2013, when the category names for both new and renamed categories will be introduced alongside the existing categories. The enhancements will be released as part of the WebFilter database download and will automatically appear in the policy editor, but the new and newly renamed categories will not yet be populated. Effective October 15th, WebPulse Site Review will have the full list of categories with definitions. In the meantime, please view KB5880 for a full list of categories and definitions. The fully implemented change will occur on November 12, 2013, when the new category names will be populated with URLs, and the old category names are removed from the WebFilter database.

Your Blue Coat support contract entitles you to important software updates for your Blue Coat products. With every new software version, we continue to provide you with new features, minor enhancements, code fixes, and critical security patches. These updates are available on BlueTouch Online (BTO) in the Downloads section to customers with a valid support contract. Please note that Blue Coat will be validating access to software updates based on your support contract entitlement. If your contract has expired or will be expiring soon, please contact your Blue Coat channel partner for a renewal. If you have any questions about this, contact us at supportnewsletter@bluecoat.com

To maintain security and compliance, the delivery mechanism of software downloads has now changed with the exception of AVOS. Direct download URLs for updates will no longer be the method for software distribution. All customers will be required to login to BTO to download their software directly to their desktop or local server (except for AVOS updates). Please read the FAQ for more information on software download changes.
